Considering Poly? We'd love to meet you!
Field trips supplement classroom learning in all grades of Lower School. The study of birds takes Nursery to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, one of the best birding locations in the Northeast. Butterflies perch on kindergartners and tropical plants in the conservatory of the American Museum of Natural History. First grade visits local restaurants to learn about the jobs people do. Second graders who walk across the Brooklyn Bridge see the city from a breathtaking perspective and create an original piece of art based on the trip. Third graders learn first hand about sustainability at a local recycling center and take a performing arts excursion to Carnegie Hall for The Orchestra Sings. Recently, Grade 4’s technology class, our junior engineers, visited Google headquarters to learn about coding. Each year, in every grade, teachers plan trips to extend the children’s studies, inspire new learning, build community, and spark curiosity.
